Spiritual Direction

Colossians 3:1-3

If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

The Hopeful Buttercup is a site that is filled with authentic encouragement and biblical devotions to help you (and me) live full-on for Jesus and be transformed by Him one encounter at a time.

This site is for you whether you are young in your faith, seasoned, or still exploring Christianity!

If you’d like to find out more about Jesus, or grow in your love and obedience to Him, no matter where you’re at in your journey, please stick around! Please know that this site is for you even if you’re not sure how to grow spiritually yet, or if you’re just feeling stuck. You’ll find hope and strength here because many of my blogs and devotional pieces have grown out of God’s faithfulness to me in times just like that.

The Hopeful Buttercup is for you if you love the Bible (or you want to learn more about what it says)! My calling from the Lord is to “feed [His] sheep”! It is my desire to help you understand God’s Holy Word better by leading you on the adventure of inductive Bible study in my blog posts or through my new EARLY RAINS Bible study Guide.

This site is full of hope!

So, if you feel weighted down sometimes and need your eyes and heart lifted back up to see the light of the Lord’s smile again, you’ll hear testimonies of His faithfulness to help you keep holding on through the hard times! If you’re in a season when hope has been elusive and has tucked itself behind the clouds of your circumstances, please be sure to find my short piece below titled “Yellow Buttercup”.

Lastly, if you’re rather sick of AI and you want devotional content written by a REAL person and not blogs that are Chat-you-know-what, etc., generated, then you’ve come to the right place!

My blogs, Journey into Trust Devotional and EARLY RAINS Bible study are all great resources to help you connect with God’s Word daily and grow!

I’m so glad you are here!

In Him,

Dawn

The nature of devotionals is to help us draw closer to God, to help us trust Him more and to help us love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. Dawn Hill’s book Journey into Trust will not disappoint on any of those fronts. Reading it will bring beauty, hope, joy and spiritual transformation into your life as you navigate your personal challenges.  Each piece will help you see more clearly and teach you how to rise up in the midst of the most challenging circumstances or enjoy the good gifts of each day.  It is filled with promises from God’s Word and the hard-won wisdom of a woman who has leaned into the heart of God through years of heart-wrenching trials and found Him to be her Sustainer, Father and best Friend.

Reviews

“Oh my goodness, Dawn! I’m absolutely loving your book! I’ve only read about a third, but I will gladly continue…. the language and descriptions are so evocative and apt, but it’s more than that. It’s truly a gift from God, first to you, and then to us. I’d like to buy more to have them on hand as gifts for those who face challenges….”

Maureen Lang, Christian Fiction Author and Friend

I  See” will be on a plaque for sure and certain….it’s so uplifting and encouraging and belongs where those who need it can see it and ponder… over and over!

An excerpt from Dawn Hill’s poetic devotional Journey into Trust -

Yellow Buttercup

There it is,

gleaming in its shiny yellow petals

atop such a delicate green stem.

Alive in the sun’s rays--

though the snow

still holds on round about.

Frozen whiteness reflects the day’s

brightness,

telling us winter is not yet departed.

But that flash of color

in that small flower

has the power of hope

in its being—

greater than the cold.

Dear Lord,

May more of Your promises

spring up

as Your warmth

finally comes to stay.
